These professional quality pliers are manufactured of hardened, chrome-coated stainless steel; in order to provide the durability of hardened stainless steel, this alloy contains a small percentage of carbon. It is normal for a small amount of rust to appear on the surface because of the carbon content; this will disappear after a few uses.
